What we do with your details

Short version: we only hold what you send us, we use it to reply to you, and we do not track you around the internet.

Who is responsible

Looking For The Magic Records, 11 The Parade, Beynon Road, Carshalton, SM5 3RL. We decide what happens to the information collected through this website, which makes us the data controller for it under UK data protection law.

What we collect, and when

Only what you type into the form on the sell us your records page: your name, your email address, your phone number if you choose to give one, roughly how much you have, and whatever you tell us about it. Nothing on this site collects anything about you in the background.

Why we have it

To read your enquiry and get back to you about it. That is the only reason. The lawful basis is that you asked us to take a look at something you might sell us, which is a step taken at your request before any deal is done.

We will not add you to a mailing list off the back of an enquiry, and we do not sell or share your details for marketing.

How long we keep it

Twelve months after we have finished dealing with your enquiry. If we do end up buying records from you, the paperwork for that sale is kept with our ordinary business records for as long as we are required to keep them.

Who else can see it

The website is hosted by Cloudflare. When you send the form, your message is stored securely and emailed to us through Resend, our email provider. Cloudflare and Resend may process your details on servers outside the UK, under the safeguards UK data protection law requires. Nobody else receives it.

Cookies, and things loaded from other sites

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It is privacy-first: it sets no cookies, does not track you across other websites, and collects nothing that identifies you personally.

Some parts of the site come from other companies, and those companies do set their own cookies. So they do not load unless you ask for them:

  • The map on the home and visit pages comes from Google Maps. It stays as a plain address card until you press the button to show it.
  • The Facebook feed on the home page comes from Facebook. Same again – nothing loads until you ask for it.
  • The record player on the home page comes from Spotify, and this one does load with the page, so Spotify may set cookies as soon as you open it. We are changing that.

When you do choose to load the map or the feed, we save a single note in your own browser so you are not asked again next time. It never leaves your device and it tells us nothing about you. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it, and you will be asked again.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it, or object to us using it at all. Just ask – there is no form and no charge, and we will respond within a month.

Getting in touch, and complaining

The quickest way to reach us is a message on Instagram or Facebook, or you can write to us at 11 The Parade, Beynon Road, Carshalton, SM5 3RL.

If you think we have handled your information badly, please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, whether or not you speak to us first.

Changes

If this changes we will update this page. Last updated 20 August 2026.
